Layer Show/Hide ( Drawing Editor )

Tool summary :

  • Hides or shows your current drawing's active drawing layer. If the selected layer is hidden, it becomes shown. If the selected layer is shown, it becomes hidden.
  • The active layer is the layer that is selected in the layer selection tool .
  • The hidden/shown state of layers is retained when you Save ( Ctrl + s ) a drawing. This means that some layers may be hidden when you Open ( Ctrl + o ) a drawing.
  • Plotting does not print hidden layers. What you see in the drawing in the Drawing Editor is what you see on the printed drawing.
  • A reason to hide layers is so that Xxx Edit All and Xxx Erase All operations do not affect objects on those layers.
  • Hiding a layer stops you from being able to select items on that layer. For example, if you hide a layer with labels on it, Label Edit All does not affect the labels on the hidden layer.
  • The Edit Layers window can also be used to hide or show layers. Hidden layers are layers that are set to " Show ."
  • See the step-by-step instructions .

   Step-by-step instructions :

Layer Show/Hide can be used in the Drawing Editor to hide/show the layer that is selected on the layer selection tool .

1 . Before using this tool:

1a : On the layer selection tool , select the layer you want to hide or show.

2 . Invoke Layer Show/Hide using any one (1) of the following methods:

Method 1 : Click the Layer Show/Hide icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Objects -- Layers ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 2 : If " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Objects > Layers > Hide/Show .

Method 3, 4 or 5 : Layer Show/Hide can also be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the ' Lightning ' layout style, configuration of the interface is done using Customize Interface .

Method 6 : With Layer Mode mouse bindings active, right-click ( Hide or Show ). The mouse binding reads Hide if the selected layer is currently shown. The mouse binding reads Show if the selected layer is currently hidden.

3 . The state of the selected layer changes from hidden to shown or vice-versa. All objects on that layer disappear if the layer changes to hidden -- those same objects become visible if the layer changes to shown.

Note: At this point you can still undo your changes by using Revert or Undo . If you Save to make your changes permanent, you can no longer Revert , but you can still Undo .
